  • Chestnut mushrooms have a scaly texture and the surface of the cap has a greasiness to it. They can feel slimy, especially when wet, but this is normal. Washing mushrooms changes their texture and recommend cleaning your mushrooms with a dry brush or damp cloth and allowed to dry before cooking. Remember to wash your hands after handling Chestnut mushrooms, as they can temporarily stain your hands. Although edible raw, to access full nutritional and medicinal values, we advise they be cooked to break down tough cell walls and do not recommend eating raw.

  • Will roughly keep for 1-4 days when stored ideally in the air-vented crisper drawer in the refrigerator and loosely wrapped in a paper packing.
